Privacy Policy

The Papering app does not collect personal information — it contains no code that sends data to a server. We only take an email when you sign up for the beta on this site.

What the app collects

Nothing. The Papering app creates no account, requires no sign-in, and never asks for or stores your name, email, phone number, location, or any other personal information.

What this site collects (beta sign-up)

If you sign up for the beta at papering.app, we take the following. This is separate from the app, and nothing is collected unless you sign up.

  • Email address (required) — to send you beta and launch news
  • Your iPad and how you'd use it (optional) — only if you write them, as input for the product
  • Marketing consent — we only send news to people who opted in
  • How you got here (automatic) — whether you came via search, an ad, or a link. We record the referring page your browser reports and any campaign tag on the link
  • The language and date you signed up

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies and carries no advertising or analytics tools. We hold the referral information in storage that clears when you close the browser tab, and send it along only if you sign up. Leave without signing up and it is gone. We do not link one visit to another.

How sign-up data is kept and deleted

We keep it in a private document tool (Craft) that only the maker can open. We do not sell it or pass it to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising.

We keep it until one year after launch, then delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner at contact@papering.app. You can withdraw marketing consent at the same address at any time; withdrawing does not affect beta access you already have.

Where your work is stored

Everything you make in the app — handwriting, sheets, binders, index tabs, stickers — is stored only on your device, using Apple's on-device database (SwiftData). That data never leaves the app.

What leaves your device

Nothing. This version of Papering has no networking capability at all. Specifically, none of the following apply:

  • No usage analytics
  • No advertising or advertising identifiers
  • No data sharing through third-party SDKs
  • No backup or sync to servers of ours

What Apple collects

Downloading the app through the App Store or TestFlight, and crash reports when you have diagnostics sharing enabled in your device settings, are handled by Apple under Apple's own policies. Papering does not access that information individually.

Device backups

If you use iCloud Backup or back up to a computer, app data may be included as part of your device's overall backup. That backup is governed by Apple's policies and your own settings; Papering plays no part in it.

Deleting your data

Deleting a binder or a sheet inside the app removes that record. Deleting the app from your device removes everything the app stored. We hold no copies of what you write, so there is no deletion request process to go through.

The email you leave when signing up for the beta is held by us, so write to contact@papering.app if you want it removed.

Children's privacy

The Papering app collects no personal information from any user, regardless of age. Beta sign-up on this site is for people aged 14 and over — if we find a younger person has signed up, we delete the entry promptly.

Changes to this policy

If features such as sync or handwriting recognition change how data is handled, we will update this page first and revise the date above. Any change that widens what is collected will also be announced inside the app.
